I'm examining my calendar and realizing that there is far, far too many great bands passing through Toronto in June. Normally this would be a good thing, but I have limited time in my schedule to get out, see these bands, and write reviews. Part of the reason for this heavy weather is the NorthByNotheast festival that runs June 8 - 10 when 400 bands will descend on Toronto and play 33 clubs over 3 nights. It's going to be amazing. So far in June, I'm planning on attending the following concerts. And none of these are officially NXNE shows.
But there's going to be just so much amazing talent here in June. During the NXNE festival, these bands that have sparked my interest will be playing in Toronto:
And that's just the list of bands I know I'm interested in... there's got to be at least double that in other bands I haven't even heard of yet that have something that fits into the Pete Nema theme and need support from the press and fans. It's going to be an amazing time. Jets Overhead is bolded because their new CD is just brilliant and I'm going to try my hardest to get out and see them. If you're heading out into the crazy nights of NXNE and you're an aspiring writer, contact me now and let's set something up. NXNE 2006 looks like it's going to be filled with great music, and we need to share the best (and maybe the worst) experiences. Help! On top of all that, there's even more great and/or interesting bands showing up here in June:
And then comes July... |
